We know it has been a while. The past week Josh has been battling pneumonia once again. He was sent up to the Progressive Care Unit only to be transferred shortly thereafter to the Medical Intensive Care Unit. Yesterday he finally made it back down to the Poly Trauma Unit and started his rehab back. He goes from one battle to the next. We know it is tough on him, it is tough on family too.
Since this journey began back in September I (Dad) have had a chance to play a lot of memories over and over in my head. Our family trips, the neighborhoods we have lived in, the people we have come to know from years back as well as those we have been introduced to because of the accident. There have been wonderful chapters in our life as a family. I have to believe that it was all in some way preparation for the waters we travel through now…the road that lies ahead…the battles we find ourselves in. Each day as I watch Josh cough, fight a fever, work with therapist as they stretch his body… I am reminded of a quote Josh had made his own sometime back in high school and shared with us only a few years back. It is a quote from Teddy Roosevelt…I trust it has brought him comfort and perseverance these past few months:
Josh is a fighter. He knows what it takes to win. Our family asks that you continue to walk alongside Josh and cheer for this valiant young “Man in The Arena.”
“And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most Gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore, I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong."
2 Corinthians 12:9-10
Prayer Requests:
For Josh to be able to get past these bouts with pneumonia and be able to focus on his rehab.
Kelly (Josh’s Mom) notified the school she teaches at that she will need to take a 6 month Leave of Absence. This creates new challenges but it is the absolute best thing for Josh and his recovery.
Our family as we celebrate Christmas with this un-foreseen twist.
A special Christmas Day Update!
All In For Josh
