First Steps!
We have had an amazing two weeks here at the VA's Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center in San Antonio! Here is a bullet list of some of the things that Josh has been able to accomplish so far:
Developed the ability to drive his power chair with the aide of proximity switches. He controls the chair with his head and knees!
Completed a successful Baclofen pump trial which will hopefully help him win his fight against spasticity!
Using the same switch system mentioned above, he has developed the skills to communicate independently of Kelly or I through an iPad as well as his Tobi device. These same switches will also lead to the control of his environment.
By the end of the first week Josh was doing squats on an inclined squat rack and pressing 60+% of his body weight!
And if that wasn't enough, this past Friday JOSH WALKED FOR THE FIRST TIME!
Josh also received a very special blessing, on the second day of his arrival here, Josh received an email from a company in NW Arkansas that has been following his story. They would like him to join their team in the fall!
We are not certain just how long we will be here but I know Josh plans to milk it for all its worth. We have not seen Josh smile so much and laugh out loud as we have these past two weeks! We deeply appreciate all of you that have supported Josh and our family on this journey! We hope you will continue to do so. Everyday in every way, the Lord continues to to amaze! If you are amazed too, please consider liking and sharing Josh's story with others.
"Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
Isaiah 41:10
All in for Josh!
